Tupai Tupai Restaurant

I went to have dinner in Tupai Tupai opposite Menara MAA in KL yesterday. The food was not bad. 1 medium squid dish is about RM 16.00, 1 medium chicken dish is around RM 15.00. They look very little though but I was full after having them with another friend... The surroundings were very nice... felt like in the rainforest... They wear uniform and on it, it says "Suasana Rimba di bandar or kota" something like that... meaning the rainforest feeling in a city... I think it is the environment that costs more... The Malay restaurant is called "Tupai Tupai" meaning squirrel squirrel... They had like this mini water feature by the restaurant. Even the ashtray had a squirrel on it...!

Zoo Negara / National Zoo

Shocking incident #1:
My trip to the National Zoo was shocking! I saw this peacock without feathers on its tail! I thought the tail was peacock's most proud asset... I don't know if the peacock itself knew about its state...! Poor thing...

I have been to other Zoo such as in Canary Island, Spain. I went to 2 Zoos on Canary Island, one was called Loro Pargue in Tenerife and Palmitos Park in Gran Canaria. The animals there were much more active and looked healthier... Also, the spaces were huge enough for the animals to run around...

Image 1 of peacock in Zoo Negara where all the feathers on its tail gone... Is this peacock considered unhealthy?

Image 2 of peacock in Zoo Negara where all the feathers on its tail gone...

This is how a peacock should look like!

Shocking incident #2
Thief stolen something (not too sure) from this lady's bag in a baby buggy... It happened quite near to me but I did not realise it until the husband shouted "Pencuri" meaning "thief" in Malay. By that time, he was already few meters away... There were loads of people there, mostly families... No one was sure what happened... One woman said "I thought that thief was a man running after a thief since he was wearing descent clothes..."

Then after that, National Zoo staff were seen doing checks on people riding "zoo trains", the Aquarium and etc... At least they were doing something to catch the thief... That morning, the taxi driver warned me about pickpockets in National Zoo and also taxi drivers who try to double charge customers...

Now we know who the sponsors are:

Maybank sponsors the tiger... :) Memang Padan!

So cute, AMBank sponsor who else... the camel...

Looks like HSBC is the main sponsors to the animals in National Zoo... I really hope more and more organisations would sponsor the animals in National Zoo... "What goes around comes around"... Also, if you take something from mother earth, make sure you contribute something back to mother earth to preserve the balance in the world...

2008 Olympic Torch Relay in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

On 21st of April 2008... I went to Merdeka Square to witness the Olympic Torch Relay...

There were loads of Chinese citizens (not including Malaysian Chinese) came to KL to give full support to the Olympic! That's what I call the spirit of sport!!! They had huge Chinese Flags and they wore red shirts!

They ran around the Merdeka Square several times with the flags and said something like "Strive hard China" and "Go Olympic" in Mandarin... All these happened before the torch relay even started!!

Waving Chinese flags up the air...

Uncles and aunties from Perak also came to Merdeka Square to support Beijing Olympic that very same day, also wearing red shirts! These uncle and aunties might be physically "old" but their hearts were so young that their can beat the young ones anytime! "Wa respect sama lu!"

Then, something happened...

Well, believed to be residents of Malaysia, a Japanese man and his sister waved Tibetan flags infront of the Chinese people... Soon, the Chinese started to shout at them... Oh yes, before I forgot, the Japanese woman had a child beside her when it happened! I did not worry about their safety but I was more concerned about the kid's safety!

Anyhow, the whole thing did not spread into anything serious... The family were escorted away by the policemen from the location...

I managed to take some pictures of Jiang xiaoyu when he arrived at the Merdeka Square... Man it was a very hot day! "Cannot tahan"!

Well, I'm no reporter so I won't tell you what happened that day in detail... :)

But I managed to take some pictures of the torch bearer... not everyone of them cuz they ran, I walked... there was no way I would run with each of them! Crazy meh?!

The whole thing started at around 2 something in the afternoon at Merdeka Square and finished at around 6 to 7 something in the evening at KLCC (almost everyone was soaked in the rain! Why did it have to rain on that day?!)!

More pictures can be found at My Flickr!

It was a hot day but it was a fun day! Hmm sadly, I did not see many Malaysian flags around... where were the Malaysians?? You never know when such historical moment (It happened in 1964 too!) is going to happen again but I have witnessed it and it's great!
